Die Warzau
In the late eighties, Van Christie and Jim Marcus were performance artists working in Chicago clubs on their own. Their first show ever was at the historic Medusa''s Nightclub and was less about music than destruction and visual mayhem. After a performance at the Limelight that resulted in the closing of the room and a liberal amount of Press Coverage, they were invited to join the Fiction records roster alongside the Cure, Eat and the Associates, to be distributed by Polydor in the US. They released "I've Got To Make Sense" in 1988 as a single in support of Jesse Jackson's presidential campaign, charting at 23 on Billboard's dance chart and topping college club charts across the country.
Their next release, "Land of the Free" went to #1 on the Billboard dance charts and stayed on the import charts for a record 36 weeks. Their next single "Welcome to America" reached #12 on the Billboard dance charts despite a racy video that was banned on the major media outlets and only played in clubs after midnight. This first full length album "Disco Rigido" was an AOR success, spawning two more top club singles, including 1990's "Strike to the Body" (#5 on Billboard Dance) and 7 other songs that charted on various AOR radio and college stations. Die Warzau was not just a band that released dancefloor friendly singles, but one that created an eclectic collection of songs that defied stylistic categorization. They moved their US distribution base to Atlantic records, under the A&R reins of Ivan Ivan, the producer responsible for "The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight".

They were embraced by the Industrial community, despite the fact that few of their songs met the classic interpretation of industrial music. Before groups like Radiohead, Die Warzau was tearing down the boundaries between Genres. By the time "Funkopolis" reached #1 on the Billboard dance charts, their next album "Big Electric Metal Bass Face" was receiving the kind of reviews that led to serious production work with groups like Sister Machine Gun, Machines of Loving Grace, Pigface, Lil Louis, Björk, Revenge, Final Cut, Gravity Killz and KMFDM. BEMBF's 1993 release "Never Again" (#8 on Billboard dance) reassured their following that they were as political and uncompromising as ever.

"Engine", their 3rd and last release, was critically lauded as one of the greatest industrial records of all time by Magazines such as Alternate Press, Option, and Independent Music Reviews. It was eclectic and brazen, complex and energetic, full of energy and a series of songs that would be played on younger dancefloors for years. "All Good Girls" reached the top of multiple dance charts despite the fact that the band's new label TVT records never released the single. It showed up in 1995 on the soundtrack for the movie "Hideaway", however, and on numerous compilations.

Convenience is their 4th studio album
